ABSTRACT
The paper defines the role of logistics and supply chain management (SCM) as a way to raise sustainability of the company in order to eliminate economic crisis consequences and support business in this case. It is shown trends of consolidation of logistics both in business organizations and in national coverage. The importance of creating and managing knowledge base of companies’ personnel in the field of logistics and SCM as a source of sustainable competitive advantage is specified.
Taking into account the extremely limited number of qualified logisticians in the Russian labor market, it is offered the direction of additional education programs differentiation for advanced training and retraining of staff. The paper provides an example of International Center of Training in Logistics at the HSE which implements the range of programs of advanced training and retraining in logistics.
The main ways to improve the efficiency of business during the economic crisis by using tools of logistics and SCM are covered, among which are application of total costs principle; management and optimization of the inventory levels in the supply chain; development of controlling system in logistics; improvement of sustainability and reliability of supply chains, etc.

CATEGORY Terminology in Logistics and SCM
ABSTRACT
In this article the author dwells on the issue of the English language as a universal tool of professional communication. The author provides data on a leading position of English and of its role for business. To show the important role of English in logistics, the article answers the following questions: what the number of main academic terms in logistics is, how they are distributed by logistics spheres, what terms are most used, what fields logistics is connected with, how many terms logistics adopted from other fields of knowledge, whether logistic terms follow the requirements of an ideal term. The study was conducted by a lingual-statistical method of an English logistics dictionary and authentic texts. The author prompts a conclusion that English skills in logistics are the key to business success.

CATEGORY Planning the supply chain
ABSTRACT
The development of methods and technologies in logistics planning and supply chain management is shown in the historical perspective. The article illustrates the effect of the integration of production and operating logistics activities planning as well as information integration. It is argued that the quality of planning depends on the techniques used and the level of integration and coordination both within the company and between contracting parties of the supply chain. The dynamics of planning techniques is discussed in perspective of Pull / Push systems and fundamentals of economic, technological and information drivers, which include the concept of RP - Requirements / resource planning, JIT - Just-in-time, Lean Production, ECR - Effective Customer Response, and corporate information systems of ERP level.

CATEGORY Analytics in logistics and SCM Optimization and economic-mathematical modeling
ABSTRACT
In logistics, marketing and other areas of the economy people use an approach based on ABC-XYZ analysis. The disadvantages of this approach include its limited functionality. The article deals with ways of overcoming this shortcoming. As an example, we consider ABC-XYZ analysis of commercial products. For solving this problem, we use theory of sets: all products are represented as a set, which then splits into subsets A, B, C, X, Y, Z and others. It is further proposed to combine the operations of the theory of sets with the usual methods used in ABC-XYZ analysis. This allows you to visualize the problem and propose a solution in the form of the relational data model (relational table). In this table fields (columns) there are, on the one hand, the categories of ABC-XYZ analysis and, on the other hand, the usual parameters of the chosen product: price, manufacturer, etc. The article describes the features of working with a table of this kind. As a result, it is possible to radically extend the functionality of the ABC-XYZ analysis, using popular software products. As an example, in the simplest case – MS Excel, in more complex cases – MS Access or Oracle.

ABSTRACT
The growing interest in increasing supply chain efficiency claims the higher requirements to designing of supply chains. Searching and choosing options of different supply chains is supposed to be of a current interest in our country. By achieving this goal Russian enterprises could benefit significantly. To solve the problem of supply chain efficiency we consider the complex attitude to designing supply chains for new products, which are delivered to the market through the existing logistics channels, i.e. infrastructure and configuration.
The main idea is to propose a complex logistics network between supply chain designing from the very beginning and reengineering. In other words, the core idea is to develop different ways of decision making in order to promote new product to the market.
In the article ‘new product’ is determined as a product with significant differences from previous product lines by its’ customers’ features, demand, weight, forms, retail volumes and product life cycle. Apparently, changing weight and forms of the product could lead to the change of packaging. As a result, amount of units per one delivery will change too. In addition to this, we should think whether to change the existing logistics supply chain configuration or leave it untouched. Integral criteria could be used as an evaluation tool.
Developed methodology is supposed to be used in design of logistics networks in general. At the same moment, developed methodology could be applied to systems of smaller scale and certain logistics functions, such as storage, transportation, warehouse management, etc.
Article contains critical literature overview, methodological proposals and algorithm, example of calculations.
In the article is considered the topic of designing supply chains for a new product with the existing logistics configuration and infrastructure. The article deals with development of the new approach to supply chain management between designing supply chains and reengineering.
